Valentine Cookies made with pink and red M&Ms

'Tis the Season for Pink & Red!

I'm all about the pink and red, and hearts! I love LOVE and I adore showing everyone how much they mean to me! Baking and making sweets is one way I do this. After all, I think food is my love language. 😉

These cookies are not only chewy and delish, but they are packed with M&M goodness (unless you skimp). I always place 5 M&Ms on top to add a little extra something, and polish off the cuteness of this treat.

Doesn't that color scheme just make you smile?! I can't help it. I am here for all things Valentine!!

Adding chopped M&Ms to the cookie dough

Recipe Tips

Chopping the M&M's : I use a nut chopper. You can also use a food processor or even place them in a Ziploc and crush them with the bottom of a cup. You can add as many chopped M&M's as you want. Just be aware that if you add too many, the dough won't hold together.

Pretty and Perfect : I often get asked how I make my cookies look so pretty. It's a super easy trick that I use for any cookie that has mix ins. For these Valentine cookies, it's M&M's.

Once you have the dough balls scooped place 5 M&M's on top of the dough ball. Be sure they are all near the center of the dough ball. As the cookies spread the M&Ms in the center will too.

Aside from adding valentine M&M's you can also add valentine shaped sprinkles. Jimmies are pretty and fun as are the sugar crystal sprinkles.

Valentine Cookies on a baking sheet

Storage Tips

Dough balls: Place the dough balls on a baking sheet. You can add the M&Ms on top now, or save them to add right before baking. (I like to save them to add later because they tend to fall off in the freezer.) Put the dough balls in the freezer, once solid transfer them to a freezer Ziploc. Freeze for 3-4 months.

TO BAKE: place dough balls on a baking sheet and allow to thaw while the oven is being heated. Bake according to recipe directions. You may need to add 1-2 more minutes to account for the colder dough.

Baked: Once the Valentine cookies have cooled, they can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 4-5 days. Adding a piece of white bread into the container will help keep the cookies soft.

TO FREEZE the cookies, place them in a freezer ziploc separating layers with parchment or wax paper. Freeze for 3-4 months.
